Conroy Motorsport's amazing 100% finishing record that covers 3 Bathurst 12 Hours-- 2 Eastern Creek 8 Hours and 2 Eastern Creek 6 Hour Enduros and a Sandown 500 is testament to meticulous car preparation, and the contribution that Penrite Oils and lubricants have played in maintaining Engine and Transmission efficiency.
Never at any time have we lifted the Bonnet to check or top up oils, when you consider we average 1600 KMS in a 12 Hour at Bathurst, spending most of every lap at 8000RPM, the loadings require an oil that maintains its Viscosity--reduce friction--doesn't aerate and controls temperatures.
2011 has been a great year for Conroy Motorsport with success in winning Class D in the Manufacturers Endurance Championship as well as the Manufacturers Performance Championship.

The Penrite/Ballarat indoor karts sponsored team GKR Racing raced the final round of the Golden Power Series last weekend at Puckapunyal's Hume International Raceway.
Both Kevin and Ron raced in clubman over 40's. Kevin with heat results of 1st, 4th and 1st, kevin was off pole position for the final. Ron had heat results of 14th, 3rd and 3rd. Ron would start the final from 5th. From the start Kevin lost out and back to 2nd and follwed the leader for a lap and made a move onto the lead at the start of lap 2. He lead for a couple of laps when his competitor dropped a chain on lap 4, just behind him, this gave Kevin a good lead, one that wouldn't be headed. In the meantime, Ron was on a mission to drive his way up into 2nd place. Ron managed to post the fastest lap of the final with a 48.181, Kevin's best a 48.287. So a 1-2 finish for the older blokes in a field that was not short of talent.
Glenn raced off in clubman heavy with heat results of 11th, 6th and 6th. This was a field of quality drivers. Glenn struggled to find some speed from his kart, when he discovered that he had odd stub axles in the front, one hard and one soft! So with that sorted for the final, he had good pace from position 8 to come through the field and finish 4th.
Kevin also raced leopard light, the class he has raced in the series so far. He had heat results of 2nd 6th and 2nd. Off the front row for the final. Kevin was pushed back to 5th. some work in front of him now and fighting hard saw Kevin come back to finish 3rd. The top seven or so drivers were all lapping similar times so once they bolted, it's hard to catch up. This should give Kevin 2nd overall for the series.
The team would like to Thank Penrite and Ballarat indoor karts for their support. We have one more meeting this year, our club finals on the 26th/27th November.
Early November at Leighton beach, the boys won the first 5 races , but lost 50 points in the fifth race for missing a buoy .In the final ( race 6 )which is worth double points they could not get the engine started and therefore finished last.
The boys ended up second overall for the day by four points and lead the championship by 170 points.
Congratulations!
A challenging season end as Le Brocq secures 2nd in Championship
The final round of the 2011 Australian Formula Ford Championship has been a typical motorsport weekend for the three strong AMSF/CAMS Rising Star Crew with Le Brocq sealing his second place in the series championship, while he, Harrison and local young-gun Mitchell all faced the ups and downs of racing on the short Tasmanian circuit.
Going into the practice sessions, the Minda Motorsport team were confident that all three cars were well prepared and that the young drivers were ready to go out and make an impact. Le Brocq looked to continued his fine form topping the time sheets in Practice 1, Harrison went fifth, while Mitchell was right on the verge of the top ten, a strong start to his National campaign.
Cams Rising Star driver Jack Le Brocq rounded out Round 6 of the Australian Formula Ford Championship on a high as he crossed the line in first place in front of championship leader Cameron Waters. Although it wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Melbourne based driver as he was involved in an incident at turn 4 after a safety car restart which sent him to the rear of the 21 car field during Race 1 as he was battling for the top spot on the podium. Jack recovered in Race 2 with a stellar drive through the field from 13th position to 4th, right on the tail of the 2nd and 3rd place finishers.
CAMS Rising Star Jack LeBrocq broke through for his maiden Australian Formula Ford Championship round win at a wet and wild Sandown Raceway on the weekend. LeBrocq didn’t take a race win from any of the three heats but his consistency proved vital. After qualifying on the back row due to being caught out by the red flag midsession which didn’t allow Jack to get a lap in on the drying track, he was able to claw his way back through the field in Race 1 to take 3rd position.
“It’s absolutely fantastic to finally get a round win under my belt! It has been a long time coming with the Minda Motorsport squad but we have finally got here and it’s just a massive credit to everyone who has been involved! We haven’t completed a great deal of testing with the French built Mygale chassis this year but with every outing we just keep on getting stronger and that has shown in our results throughout the year. I was pretty disappointed with qualifying but that’s Motorsport and I just put my head down in Race 1 and I think that showed when I walked away with a podium finish”
Good morning, this is a short note to thank Penrite for the sponsorship this year with my karting, the last race in our northern championship was run and won on the weekend, after a hard slog through the year and a great finish in the last round at Karratha where I won the sportsman 100 heavy class and 3rd in the open class which was enough to give me the championship win in the 100 heavy class and runner-up in the championship in the open class, once again thank you very much for your support.
Tickner Motorsports didn't have the most successful run at the Flinders 450 this weekend.
After Saturday's prolouge they were 4th in class and 35th outright which was a good effort as it was Bodie's first AORC, but then on the start line of section 1 they had a drive shaft break which put them back over a half hour but still was able to get it fixed and finished the section.
Sunday seen Bodie starting at the back of the field but soon starting to make his way back up there until he came in contact with some barbed wire which resulted in him and his navigator Graham Tickner having to stop and remove the bared wire from the front right hand wheel. Then not to long after on their second lap they had a tyre go flat which then put them back another half hour or more but this none of this stopped them they got another tyre and continued racing. But then unfortunately the had a cv let go, but they were determined to keep racing but when pulling it apart to put a new cv on the driveshaft, they found out that it had done a lot more damage then they had anticipated putting a bend in the drive shaft which put them out of the race for good unfortunately.
Tickner Motorsports would like to thank all the people that helped them get back out there to compete, they would also like to thank
Port Adelaide Auto Repairs, Penrite oils and The Good Guys - Jim Dravis for their support in helping them get to the event.
Tickner Motorsports are going to be competing at Wynarka in three weeks time with Graham Tickner getting back in the drivers seat with Sam Tickner next to him in the silly seat so keep in tuned then to see how they go.
South Australian Super Sedan racer Paul Blenkiron completed the 2010/11 season with his podium of the year in the prestigious Wally Francombe Memorial at the Sunline Speedway in Waikerie. After having the feature event cancelled due to rain at the previous race meeting at the Murray Bridge Speedway Paul was keen for a good showing in his Penrite / Blenkiron Group #22 Pontiac so he was extremely pleased to finish the event in the runner-up position.
“Following the heats that were run in the afternoon we changed the car for the final (run in the evening) and found that we missed the set-up a bit at the start but as the race progressed we got better. Unfortunately we caught the leader with only one lap to go and we couldn't make a pass for the win but it was still a good result and something to build on for next year” added Paul at the completion of his racing season.
Earlier in the day Paul contested two heat races and after starting on the second row for both he recorded a fourth and a second placed result. These finishes placed Paul third on points in the nine car field and after 15 laps on the tight Sunline layout Paul clawed his way into second at the drop of the chequered flag.
“In our opening heat we were able to start fourth and finish fourth but in our second heat we started fourth and moved up to second. The car felt really nice in the second heat and it was good to pass a couple of cars as that can be hard at Waikerie”.
“Now that our season has finished I really must thank all of the sponsors that helped me get out on track this season and we can now look forward to a full season next summer” added Paul in an appreciative manner.
Despite being sent to the rear after a late race incident in the final of the KRE Sprintcar Series at the Brisbane International Speedway Redcliffe resident Ricky Mitchell achieved his season goal of finishing inside the top 10 in the overall points Championship in his #19 Eagle Ignition Leads / Penrite Cheetah.
After starting the feature race from position seven Ricky had the car moving forward running a majority of the race inside the top five until a late passing attempt by Steven White bought both Ricky and Steven to a halt. As a result both drivers were sent to the rear ending what had been a terrific night for Ricky and the team.
"Whilst it was disappointing to end the season that way, we are certainly pleased with the new chassis, and look forward to further fine tuning. Ultimately to finish ninth in the KRE series, after being in 24th after four rounds is a great result for the Eagle Ignition / Penrite Oils / Wesfil Filters team” commented Ricky following the race.
Earlier in the night Ricky timed in 13th in the 26 car field during his hot lap session with a 12.24 which wasn’t too far off the pace considering 12.11 second lap would have put you inside the top 5. Following two really competitive drives, finishing second in both heats, Ricky finished equal sixth in the points, just missing the dash on a count back.
"After only two nights of racing with the new Cheetah Chassis the team is continuing to learn about the set-up and the changes the car likes. As a Team we had a pretty good year but at this stage our plans are unclear for next season, and we will have a get together with Ricky and the crew to discuss our plans and we make a decision next month" added Team Owner Peter Mitchell.
Young guns Jon Collins and Callum Mitchell have been accepted to drive in the inaugural season of
the AMSF Rookie Rising Stars program, the Australian Motor Sport Foundation’s latest initiative to
support and develop racers across Australia.
With new sponsor GO Markets on board, their season commenced this weekend at the opening round
of the 2011 Victorian State Circuit Racing Championship at one of the nation’s most challenging
circuits, Phillip Island.
Both Rookie Rising Stars had never before taken to the island circuit, so were keen to gain maximum
track time and make a positive impression in their debut event. With open practice sessions on the
Friday, 19 year old Jon and 17 year old Callum would have their first real experiences in a flying 20
minute qualifying session on Saturday morning.
Both Collins and Mitchell drove their Mygale SJ11’s beyond the team’s expectations, taking only three
laps to set impressive times. In his first ever car race, whilst learning the challenges of his vehicle and
the unforgiving island circuit, Mitchell experienced his first near miss, a slide through the fast turn
twelve, but a quick recovery soon set him back on his way to secure seventh in his first qualifying
attempt.
Collins too had initial pace, setting his best time on the third pass, before a wide run through turn one
lost time and introduced the second of the Rookie Rising Stars to the tests that lay ahead. Collins
ended the session with a sensational 4th fastest, only beaten by
Andrew Scheuerle has taken his second win of the season at Brisbane International Speedway last night, extending his lead in the KRE Series. Scheuerle won his first heat and finished second in his final heat, putting him 3rd highest on points before the marble draw.
The Queenslander seems to be in luck this year with the marble draws and again pulled the number 1 starting position for the 6 lap Dash. Scheuerle started alongside Darryl Hodges and took the lead and drove away for the win.
The track was rough and Scheuerle had his car setup perfectly to claim his second feature win of the season for the Ausdeck Racing Team. "I'm happy with the results, the car is feeling great and the team are doing a great job. I have to thank the Crew, Gary & Speedy for all their hard work throughout the season. It's great to get some good results for our Team. I was suprised we were even racing after the track was completely under water a week ago but John and the BIS Team have done a great job and it's a credit to them to get us back on the track so quickly. Tonight, a portion of the winnings will go towards the Premier's Flood Appeal for those who have suffered in the Queensland Floods over the past months especially the people of Grantham near our home town of Toowoomba." Shirls said.
CAMS Rising Star Formula Ford drivers Trent Harrison and Jack LeBrocq have survived a bruising opening
round of the Australian Formula Ford Championship on the streets of Adelaide.
The duo, driving brand new Mygale chassis run by Minda Motorsport, managed to finish the round in the
top 10, helping set up a solid platform from which to build over the upcoming rounds.
For Harrison – driving the team’s #12 Mygale SJ11a – it was a weekend that started with difficulty.
Mechanical problems left him a lowly 14th in qualifying, however the young Victorian drove two very
strong races to work his way through to eighth place in Race 1 (which became seventh when another
driver was excluded) and fourth in Race 2.
LeBrocq – driving the team’s #49 entry – also had to fight back through the field after making a small
mistake in the turn 4 braking area in Race 1 and running down an escape road.
He managed to rejoin and climbed back up to finish 14th before piecing his way through a Race 2 that was
packed with carnage.
LeBrocq had worked his way to a very solid fourth place before contact at the final corner while trying to
take third sent him back to eighth place by the time he crossed the line.
Post-race he was given a five-championship point penalty, but remains positive as the series now takes a
two-month break before the next round at Winton in Victoria on May 14-16.
Round 1 of the Australian Formula Ford Championship will be telecast on 7mate on Sunday April 3 at
9.00am.
After a lengthy stint on the sidelines Woodchester resident Paul Blenkiron was back behind the wheel of a Super Sedan last week after making his season debut at his home track, the Murray Bridge Speedway. After giving his brand new #22 Pontiac bodied Devil Chassis a shake down run on Thursday night at an official Murray Bridge practice Paul made his racing debut on Saturday (March 12) recoding a very strong result against the biggest line up of domestic Super Sedans seen this year.
Following his two heat races Paul was forced to stat at the back of the 14 car field after failing to finish his second heat and at the completion of the 20 lap final Paul had managed to stay out of trouble and as the chequered flag fell he made his way up to the runner-up position. The result was Paul’s best finish since capturing his maiden feature event win while driving for Ken Scott last season at the Westline Speedway at Whyalla.
“This new car is completely different to anything I have ever driven before. It is so much more responsive to the last couple of cars I have driven. It goes exactly where you want it to and it has a lot more power under the bonnet”.
“At the moment all I am trying to do is get used to how it handles and how it responds to different set-ups and track conditions. It is all about getting laps under my belt before the season ends. I think we will probably go to Bordertown in a couple of weeks before taking it down to Adelaide for the next round of their series”.
“Tonight’s result was completely unexpected but it was a good way to start with a new car. To run second to Gill (Worthley) is a pretty good effort” concluded Paul.
Paul’s next appearance will be at the Tolmer Speedway, Bordertown on March 26 before contesting round 4 of the JD Couriers Super Sedan Track Championship at Speedway City on April 2.
Lydon Dodge raced at Boliver Kart track in South Australia on the weekend competing in Rd2 of the Yamaha Challenge.
Friday:
Having had bad luck in the past at Boliver, Dodge worked hard on his consistency around the fast paced Boliver Circuit. In Dodge's first two timed practice sessions he stayed within a tenth of the pace setter, after making some minor changes to the engine package Dodge Topped the last two timed practice sessions that he competed in, Giving the Penrite Powered CRG Driver confidence going into Saturdays Qualifying.
Saturday:
Confident from Fridays timed practice we got the Penrite Oil powered CRG kart on the grid for qualifying, With the temperature cooler than the previous day Dodge could only accomplish a 6th spot.
Heat 1 starting off 6th Dodge gained 4th spot off the start and began his hunt for 3rd, passing a competitor on the 2nd lap Dodge drove his Penrite Powered CRG to a 3rd place finish.
Heat 2 seen Dodge gain 5th off the start, having to peg back the top four Dodge put his head down and by lap seven had gained 4th, holding position Dodge finished 4th.
Heat 3 again Dodge gained a good start and slotted into 4th position off the start, Dodge drove his Penrite Powered CRG into 3rd spot by lap 3, already having two top five finishs Dodge pushed the front two to gain a gap on the rest of the field, Dodge didnt make his move till lap 12 to secure a 2nd place.
Sunday:
After having fastest lap times in two of the three heats Dodge was confident that he could take the wins in the Pre-Final and Final.
Pre-Final had Dodge starting off 4th spot, getting a great start Dodge gained 2nd off the start and followed up with taking the lead on lap 2, The Penrite Powered CRG never looked challenged in the 22lap race which seen Dodge take the win.
The Final had the Penrite CRG off pole position, not getting the start Dodge dropped to second before making an early charge for the lead, by lap 3 Dodge had first position and drove away from the field, with constant pressure from second place from lap 3 Dodge crossed the line after 27 laps in 1st.
Dodge has now won both Rd1 and Rd2 of the 5 round Yamaha Challange
Rd3 will be held at Todd Road in Melbourne on 17-19th June
Round 1 of the Yamaha Challenge held at Ipswich.
Friday:
Never being to Ipswich kart track before we got the Penrite Oil powered CRG on the track as soon as possible, with only 5 practice sessions available on friday they had limited time to get used to the track find the pace, at the end of Friday the team finished in the top 8 for timed practice on old tyres and were confident on making a top five qualification on Saturday.
Saturday:
Confident from Fridays timed practice we got the Penrite Oil powered CRG kart on the grid for qualifying, on lap 3 and 4 Lydon came across slower karts disrupting my fast laps, although still becoming the 6th fastest qualifier.
Race one seen congestion into turn 1 and 2 causing me to get shuffled back to 10th position, after sorting him self out Lydon came back to finish 8th in heat 1.
Race two gave Lydon a better start making up two spots off the start unfortunatly while dicing with the 3rd i dropped back to 5th to finish heat 2.
Race three, we made a change to the setup to deal with the grip level going on the track while showing good pace Lydon moved yup from 6th to finish 4th in heat 3.
Sunday:
The Prefinal seen the Penrite Oil Powered CRG kart off 4th for the start, getting a jump on 3rd Lydon slowly caught up to 2nd at half race, passing 2nd place into turn 10 I pulled a 1 kart length gap to hold onto second place for the pre-final.
The final Lydon started on the front row in 2nd, missing the start he dropped into 3rd but gained 2nd place when we entered turn 2, before dropping back to 3rd on turn 11, we put a softer axle in the kart for the final which made the kart difficult to drive for the first half of the race, so as soon as the tyres got to temperature I pulled 2nd place back and past him into turn 2, pushing hard to catch 1st place Lydon maintained a gap to 3rd to finish on the track in 2nd.
1st round of the Golden Power Series held at Rochester, the weekend 2 / 3 April. The team had a bag of mixed results. Firstly Ron racing in clubman over 40's had grid draws for the first two heats of 12 and 7. With a big drive in the first heat up to 4th! The second heat he come from 7th and finished 6th. His combined points from the first two heats gave him grid 4 for the 3rd heat, which is very impressive with 19 karts in the class. From 4th, Ron managed to get to 3rd and hang on to the end. He started the final of 12 laps from 6th and made it to turn two when he was run wide on the exit, onto the grass and then hit and turned around, DNF. What a shame, Ron was certainly setting some very quick times in the heats and showed real promise for the final.
Glenn, racing in clubman heavy had a grid draw of 11 and 4 for the first two heats. He drove from 11th to finish 8th in heat one. Heat 2 and struggleing with kart set up, from 4th position,Glenn managed to finish in 3rd. "It just wont release off the corner" Glenn said.
Glenn had secured 4th position for heat 3, but during the roll up, the exhaust came loose and Glenn was forced to retire before the start. So now from grid 5 in the final, Glenn still had dramas with the set up and couldn't hold off the onslaught and fell back to 8th, and that's where he finished.
Kevin had his first experience in Leopard Light, a 125cc water cooled engine on a very grippy tyre. His grid draw for the first two heats were 9 and 1. With two very fast and experienced drivers in this class it was all about who was going to finish 3rd. From 9th, Kevin drove to 4th. Heat 2, and from pole he held on for the first lap, then went to 2nd, but managed to hang in and finish in 2nd. His points from the 2 heats gave Kevin grid 3 for the 3rd heat, a position he kept to the finish.
The final of 12 laps and Kevin didn't get the start he wanted. "I didn't defend turn 2 and I was run wide and held out, I went back to 6th" he stated. He fought back to 4th and hunted down 3rd place until he made a move into turn 1, but went in too deep and the other driver went back under him. 4th it had to be.
No trophies this meeting, but it's a 5 round series so we'll be battling it out to the end.
Thanks Penrite again for your support.
CAMS Rising Stars Trent Harrison and Jack Le Brocq turned around the early challenges of the weekend’s racing to
secure impressive top seven round results in the season’s second outing of the Australian Formula Ford Championship.
Both young drivers needed to overcome early performance hurdles: Harrison having completed minimal laps through the
Friday practice sessions as his Mygale SJ11A experienced a persistent misfire; Le Brocq hoping to be more on the pace
once oversteer and balance concerns were corrected.
Qualifying saw lap time consistency for both the #12 and #49 CAMS Rising Stars machines through the 20 minute
session. With the early red flag not interrupting Harrison or Le Brocq’s commitment to secure front of pack starts to the weekend, the team’s reliability and handling concerns looked to be a thing of the past. Both drivers posted consistent times, and ended the session with Le Brocq to start from 6th, and Harrison from 10th.
Race one saw the CAMS Rising Stars start top ten on a circuit they both know well. Harrison made a good start, hot onthe trail of Graham while holding off any challenge from Fenech as the laps fell away. Posting times within 3/1000th’s of his challengers, Harrison was looking good to edge towards the leaders when, on lap five, he headed into the pits with an engine misfire again plaguing his weekend. Harrison returned to the track soon after, but the dramas would see him back in the pits to record his first DNF of the season, a disappointing start for the promising young racer. Le Brocq had dropped position through turn one, but carried consistent pace throughout a race long battle with the Davies Spectrum, securing a 7th place finish.
Race two saw Le Brocq start from 7th, while team mate Harrison had everything to gain, starting from the rear of grid back in position 20. Le Brocq started well, battling with Hart, before making the move for 6th through turn ten, and going on to post times comparable to the race leaders as the laps went by. Finding the gap on Sager mid race, Le Brocq was soon in the top five and lapping consistently faster than Jacobsen in 4th and next on the hit list. When the contenders ahead tangled into the final pass through turn one, Le Brocq seized the opportunity and 3rd position, crossing the line with his first podium finish of the season. Harrison made a great start, taking three positions on the run to and through turn one, before an early safety car took time from the race. With the Mygale now on song and Harrison looking to use the pace, he made runs on Williamson and again on Barbour, edging closer to the top ten. With movement across the field, the young #12 pilot gained further position and secured a top ten finish with a pass on the inside of Rayner, an outstanding recovery to be back in the points. Jacobson and Brabham tangled in turn one so I made the best of that to move up but we were consistent throughout the race so it’s great to be in the top three.
The final race of the weekend saw both CAMS Rising Stars launching their Mygale SJ11A’s from the top ten as the
heavens opened above them. Le Brocq’s start line wheel spin dropped him to 11th, while team mate Harrison charged
through the field to take 7th as they crossed the line the first time around. Confident with the car, Harrison pushed on to move closer to the top five, and by lap four it was fellow Rising Star Le Brocq following the #12 car. When Foster dropped off the circuit on lap seven, Harrison pounced and moved up in to 3rd. Foster came back at Trent and tried a desperate lunge on the outside of turn one but to no avail. Harrison greeted the chequered flag with his first race podium for the year. Le Brocq recovered from the bad start to regain three positions by the close of lap three, and as the action unfolded ahead, soon found himself in 5th, directly behind the Mygale of team mate Harrison. The gap between the CAMS Rising Star duo was increasing until an off at the sweeper for Harrison brought Le Brocq back within reach. As the final laps unfolded, drama for Foster handed 4th position to Le Brocq who crossed the line behind Harrison to finish the weekend with 3rd for the round – a deserved podium result for the talented young driver.
Good weekend for Tickner Motorsports at the “Teagle Excavations ARB Pines Enduro 400”
Saturday seen the Bodie and Graham have a prologue that they weren’t hoping for having a few off’s which caused them to miss out on the Dash for Cash by only .10 of a second.
Putting Saturdays racing behind them they focused on Sunday’s race.
Start of the day seen them win the take-off from the start line against a fellow Super 1650 competitor and then were soon hunting down other competitors.
At the end of the first 2 laps they had gone from 42nd position to 29th. They then went out for the next 2 laps, but had some pretty close calls with some of the big trees which cost them some time but were still able to come in on the next break in 27th position. This was the end of the SAORRA round and they finished in 11th outright and 2nd in the Super 1650 class. But the racing wasn’t over for them just yet they still went out for the AORC round which were another 2 laps.
On the first of the last 2 laps they blew a tyre which put them behind a whole lap but they we determined to finished so they grabbed a tyre, put it on the car and were able to finish the event without any more hassles.
They finished the event in 22nd position and 7th in the super 1650 class.
Tickner Motorsports would like to thank the companies who supported them throughout the Pines Enduro,
