Team BGR is a family run team including myself, mum and dad and good friend Paul Crouch who does all the spanner work on the car. Throughout my whole time racing in the FVEE category our team at BGR have competed as a privateer team. In a controlled category where track time and shared knowledge is a huge advantage we have been successful on our own. There is a great advantage to being in a paid race car team, however we have been able to take it the teams and on most occasions beating them, a great feeling for an individual.
We do all our own pre-race preparation, transport the car to the track and Paul and I do all the race engineering and set up from data extracted from the motec and my feedback.
We have managed to achieve great results without any test or practise days as I have ben studying and completing my year 12 studies.
Being from a rural area of Mildura team BGR must do enormous amounts of travelling to get to race tracks, the closest race track is a five hour drive from home.
Mildura is very well known for developing successful driver talent, the Kelly brothers, Darren Morgan – drag racing, Cameron Waters – supercars Josh Water – motor bikes, and soon to be our team in FF.
Following on from our success in FVEE we have purchased a Spectrum Formula Ford and will race in the Victorian FF series in 2018 and also selected National rounds including the SUPERCARS round at newst track in Australia “The Bend”
We have teamed up with Mike Borland from Borland Racing Developments to mentor and provide technical assistance at race meetings. As we are a privateer team we will be doing all our own set up and car changes, under Mikes tutelage. Mike is confident I can take my FVEE experience and driver skills into the FF arena.
